Withnell Health Centre hosted a coffee morning and raffle to support the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer Research and Breast Cancer Now.
To raise the funds they baked and donated cakes for the coffee morning, which was organised to coincide with the surgery’s Saturday flu jab clinic. They also gifted raffle prizes.
The health centre serves not just Withnell but a number of neighbouring villages.
Medical secretary, Trisha Foote, said: “All the health centre’s staff – doctors, nurses, administration staff – were involved in the fundraising as were many of our patients.
“We look after 5,500 patients from the Withnell, Brinscall, Abbey Village and Wheelton areas.
“We fundraise annually for charity and have supported many causes but for the last three years, we have focused on breast cancer.
“Rosemere Cancer Foundation funds projects that help breast cancer patients locally and is also a cause close to many staff and patients’ hearts.”
Fundraising assistant for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Hannah Leahy, said: “We are extremely grateful for our share of the funds raised by the staff and patients of Withnell Health Centre.
“Every penny will stay locally to help people in our community currently undergoing cancer treatment.”
The Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world-class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.
