Emergency crews have been battling a blaze in Glasgow’s Battlefield this afternoon.

A block of flats has burst into flames in Glasgow as fire crews work to extinguish the large blaze. Emergency crews rushed to the the Park Pavilions new build development, the former Victoria Hospital site, on Grange Road in Battlefield this afternoon at around 2.41pm after receiving reports of a fire.
Black smoke billowed from the top floor penthouse apartment. Pictures of the aftermath showed the windows and surrounding walls charred from the inferno, with some smoke still coming from the flat.
Seven fire engines and a height appliance raced to the scene. It is understood that nobody was injured.
The development is owned by Beech Grove Homes, part of Sanctuary Scotland, and contains 153 luxury homes – with some selling for £350,000. It is not yet known the full extent of the damage to the building.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.41pm on Monday, 1 December, to reports of a building fire on Grange Road, Glasgow.
“At its height, seven appliances and a high-reach vehicle were mobilised to the area, where firefighters are working to tackle a fire within the eight floors of a multi-storey under-construction building.
“There were no reported casualties and crews will remain at the scene.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Grange Road in Glasgow is closed following a fire reported to us around 3.20pm on Monday, 1 December.”The public and road users are advised to avoid the area while the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.”There are no reported injuries.”
Sanctuary Scotland have been approached for comment.
