A police investigation has been launched after an abandoned car was found on a public staircase in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police were called to a footpath near Wharf Street in Sheffield on Sunday, November 30, at around 4.24am. The grey Ford Focus was then recovered at just after 11am the same day.

This was on the footpath which leads towards Park Square Roundabout. The car was believed to be on cloned plates, and an investigation has now been launched.

South Yorkshire Police said: “At 4.24am on Sunday (30 November), we were made aware of an abandoned car on a footpath near Wharf Street, Sheffield.

“The car, a grey Ford Focus, was recovered at just after 11am on the same day. The vehicle was believed to be on cloned plates and enquiries are ongoing.”
