A man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a knife and multiple other offences following a ‘disturbance’ in Altrincham town centre.

Four people were injured in the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 30). Police were initially called to reports of a ‘disturbance’ on Railway Street just after 3.20am.

Greater Manchester Police said previously that one man in his 20s suffered facial injuries thought to be life-changing while a 21-year-old man received a serious wound to the chest. Another man, 51, and a woman, 52, were left with ‘minor injuries’ after being assaulted.

Officers said an ‘altercation’ was believed to have taken place before the incident unfolded. An investigation was launched and a man has now been charged in relation to the probe.

Nathan Peters has been charged with one count of attempt murder, two counts of assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article, namely a knife. He has also been charged with section 18 wounding with intent, according to official court documents.

The 23-year-old, of Lock Lane, Partington, is set to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court this morning (December 2). Four victims are named in the court documents.

Following the incident on Sunday, a cordon was put in place in Altrincham town centre as forensic officers carried out investigations. Detectives also gathered CCTV from nearby businesses.
