Birmingham Airport is investigating an incident on a lift(Image: Birmingham Live)
Birmingham Airport has launched an investigation after a dodgy lift carrying an airline crew plummeted to a floor below – leading to one staff member feeling ‘unwell’.
The flight crew were inside ‘Lift 2’ when it dropped ‘several floors’ at the airport yesterday, December 1, an eyewitness claimed.
The passenger said their flight to Lanzarote was delayed to the incident.

BHX tonight, however, said the lift had experienced only a ‘small drop’.
The apparent malfunction had forced the crew to exit into an area away from normal operational procedures – which raised an alarm.
The Lanzarote flight was delayed because a member of the crew said they didn’t feel well enough to fly.
BHX said it wasn’t aware of any physical injuries sustained from anyone involved during the incident.
It added that safety procedures will be reissued to ensure correct routes are followed in emergencies.

A spokesperson for the airport told us: “We’re aware of an incident which we are investigating, but we are not aware of any first aid being requested or required at the time.
“We are in contact with our airline partner to better understand what happened, whilst enquiring about our airport colleagues involved.
