Prince William can’t seem to escape the narrative that he has a short temper, and the source of the latest story doesn’t come from Prince Harry.

Royal expert, Robert Jobson, author of the upcoming book, The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty of Secrets, Scandal, and Survival, is revealing the more difficult side to the future King of England. He describes him in the book as someone who is prone to “mood swings,” and is over-assertive with his father,” per Celebitchy. The book quotes palace insiders who find the Prince of Wales to be someone with a “fiery temper,” and often be “difficult to handle.”

Jobson went even further during his interview on The Telegraph‘s The Daily T podcast on November 28.

“He’s tricky,” the author said of William. “I think that there’s no doubt that the king used to get on better with Harry [than William].”

He continued, “[William] can be quite, not controlling, but he’s a bit tricky. He’s got a bit of a temper.”

Jobson’s sources seem to validate what Prince Harry said about his older brother in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

The Duke of Sussex recalled a fight they had over Meghan Markle — a verbal altercation turned physical after William allegedly called his sister-in-law “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.”

“It all happened so fast,” Harry wrote in his book. “So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Robert Lacey’s 2020 book, Battle of Brothers, also chronicled William’s temper, going back to Queen Camilla’s early years in the family.

“He has proved no Sweet William when roused,’ wrote Lacey. “In the years after her 2005 marriage to Prince Charles, Camilla recounted to members of her own family and close friends her surprise at discovering this unexpected side to Prince Charming – ‘the boy’s got a temper!‘ Charles’s wife was horrified at the ranting and raving that William unleashed on occasion against her husband in her presence.”

Prince William’s alleged behavior might be harder to hide once he takes the throne, but it’s a challenging narrative to rewrite now that the word is out.

“Occasionally, William has little tantrums and irritations if things aren’t done the way he wants them done [as heir to the British throne],” royal author Tom Quinn told Fox News Digital, via Page Six, in March. “But Kate is very good at managing that in the same way that she manages the tantrums of their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. And so, there’s a joke among the staff that Kate treats William as the fourth because he occasionally behaves like one.”

It’s a royal tale that the palace is going to have to finesse more smoothly in the future.
