There is major disruption after a person was hit by a train at Stevenage on Wednesday afternoon

A London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train at King’s Cross station.
There has been major disruption to LNER services after a person was hit by a train. The incident happened at Stevenage on Wednesday afternoon and all lines between Peterborough / Cambridge and London are currently closed.
A number of services from London Kings Cross and Edinburgh, which pass through Newcastle, have now been cancelled or delayed. The train company say that disruption is expected to last until 7pm this evening.
LNER have told customers: “A person has been hit by a train between Peterborough / Cambridge and London. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.
“Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Major disruption is expected until 19:00.”

Customers are able to use their ticket at no extra cost on alternative train services up to two hours before or after the cancelled service. They do not need to purchase a new ticket.

- Avanti West Coast services between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central / Manchester and London Euston
- TransPennine Express services between Newcastle / York / Manchester and Leeds
- Northern services between York / Leeds / Doncaster and Sheffield
- East Midlands Railway services between Sheffield / Leicester and London St Pancras International
- CrossCountry services between Edinburgh / Newcastle / York / Leeds / Doncaster and Sheffield
- Greater Anglia services between Peterborough / Stevenage and London Liverpool Street
- Great Northern and Thameslink services between Peterborough / Stevenage and London Kings Cross
- Hull Trains services between Doncaster and London Kings Cross
- Grand Central services between York and London Kings Cross
- Lumo services between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross
