Emergency services were called to Castlebank Street at around 8.45pm on December 3 after a woman was allegedly struck by a car at a crossing island near the entrance to Burger King and Starbucks.

She was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
Her family have now been informed.

We previously reported that police said the car left the scene prior to their arrival. However, it was later traced and a 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
Cops have now said that the man has been released pending further enquiries.

It comes after the road was closed for more than 12 hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.
Pictures taken from the scene showed officers in a line, with blue and purple gloves on, looking on the road as well as surrounding areas.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 49-year-old man arrested in connection with a fatal crash on Castlebank Street in Glasgow has been released pending further enquiries.
“The crash happened around 8.45pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at a crossing island near to the entrance for Burger King and Starbucks.
“The 26-year-old female pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
“Her family have been informed.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
