Martine McCutcheon paid tribute to Love Actually’s famous opening scene as she welcomed arrivals at the airport.

Martine McCutcheon was spotted channelling Love Actually‘s iconic opening scene by reuniting loved ones at an airport. The Love Actually actress was part of a special welcoming committee at London’s Stansted Airport. Donning a snug jumper and maroon jacket, she distributed warm festive beverages as she watched reunions unfold as friends and family arrived from all over the world.

The touching initiative was launched by Costa Coffee to spread festive joy to those reconnecting and to celebrate moments of connection during the holiday season. The brand conducted a survey of 5,000 adults who celebrate Christmas and discovered that nearly half (47%) said spending time with loved ones lifts their spirits.

“I’ve loved spreading a little festive cheer today,” she said. “Watching people light up the moment they see someone they’ve missed is truly magical. “

She added: “There’s a real sense of anticipation and gratitude in those first reunions that feels so unique to this time of year. It’s been a joy to witness those memories being made right in front of us.”

Nearly half of Brits travel to visit loved ones over Christmas covering an average of 164 miles, with 82% travelling by car, while others opt for trains (23%) or planes (14%).

A whopping nine in 10 agreed that the holidays are an ideal opportunity to catch up with those they hold dear with more than six in 10 of those surveyed via OnePoll.com agreed that Christmas is more about connection than celebration.

The research revealed that going on winter walks (39%), meeting in coffee shops (27%), and watching festive films together (40%) were the top ways people enjoyed spending time together.

Watching classic films like Home Alone, Elf, and Love Actually also formed part of annual traditions.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson added: “The joy of the season is in those first moments of reunion, when the people we’ve missed most finally come together.

“Whether it’s a shared smile at arrivals or a quiet coffee together, these connections create lasting memories.

“Being there to support these moments, and the holiday rituals that come with them, however big or small, is what makes this time of year so special.”
