One of Glasgow’s busiest shopping centres has just opened two new shops in time for the Christmas rush. It comes amidst a wave of new openings across the city in the past few months alone.

With just three weeks left until the big day arrives, there’s no denying that many of us will be rushing out to find the right gift for loved ones. Fortunately, Buchanan Galleries has been expanding its retail line-up to offer punters more choice.

This includes opening up a pop-up shop dedicated to the beloved Scottish comedy series Still Game. Officially now open, it has been exciting enthusiastic fans with its range of official merchandise inspired by the hit show.

It was created in collaboration with Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, the Scots actors who played the iconic Jack and Victor duo, alongside local retailer Born in Scotland. Inside, it sells popular merch including t-shirts, hoodies, hats, gifts and the official Still Game board game.

The opening has been met with a flurry of excitement online after the official Facebook page for the comedy series shared the news. One thrilled customer wrote: “How long they staying open till? Got a girlfriend and a best pal that would probs commit war crimes for half the stuff in this store”.

A second enthusiastically wrote: “I need to get a look at the weekend”.

Another shopper who visited the store happily added: “Brilliant, was in it today”.

Also joining the Still Game pop-up is a Picturesmania that is set to open early this month, although the official date has not been confirmed. Shoppers will be able to find the wall art retailer next to The Entertainer on the first floor of the shopping centre.

Known for its bold, colourful and vibrant designs, the shop is set to offer a selection of eye-catching artwork. Whether purchasing a gift for someone special, or something to spruce up the home in the New Year, it will have something for everyone.

The new openings join an already stellar line-up of shops based within the three-story shopping centre. In October, we reported that the Glasgow shopping hub had further expanded its retail offerings with seven new shops, offering more for Christmas shoppers.

This included multiple Scots-led and founded brands such as Hunky Dory, Bo Peep Heritage Accessories and more. There’s also a few extra seasonal pop-ups for sustainable fashion brand Unfolded and Loose Spirits, marking the first time the Scots alcohol kiosk has been available in the shopping centre.

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Director at Buchanan Galleries, said: “We’re delighted to welcome both the Still Game pop-up and Picturesmania to Buchanan Galleries just in time for the festive rush.

“The addition of these unique retailers brings even more variety to the centre, giving our visitors the chance to discover something new while enjoying the atmosphere of Christmas shopping in the heart of the city.

“Whether guests are looking for the perfect gift, a treat for themselves, or simply a moment of festive fun, we’re proud to offer a diverse mix of stores and experiences under one roof.”

Buchanan Galleries hasn’t been the only shopping centre in Glasgow to introduce new retailers in time for Christmas. Over in the Princes Square Mall, global retailer Anthropologie just opened its first store in the city, causing massive queues as excited punters flocked to the opening.

Over in Edinburgh, the Cameron Toll shopping centre in Edinburgh has also opened two new shops in time for the busy season. Both a Toytown and a ToysRUs recently opened at the end of November, providing an excellent opportunity for families with little ones.
