The Prince and Princess of Wales are celebrating 14 years of marriage today, and we’ve been going through the royal style archives to see which looks have stood the test of time. One of our favourites from Kate and William’s big day was Carole Middleton’s pastel blue outfit

The mother-of-the-bride’s elegant look by go-to royal designer Catherine Walker was a short-sleeved pale blue silk dress paired with coat dress in the same shade, with braiding on the cuffs and waist.

Carole, 70, paired the sophisticated ensemble with a matching hat by Hans Corbett and suede pumps.

We’d say this look is pretty timeless and a pale blue occasion dress works just as well in 2025 as it did in 2011. The Daily Express has curated a list so you can recreate Carole’s look for less from brands including Forever New, Mango and a firm favourite of Princess Kate’s, Ghost.

This long-sleeved pale blue midi dress has an asymmetric hemline and twist detail – it’s a modern take on a classic look.

For something that makes a bit more of a statement, we like this silky dress with gorgeous fluted sleeves and drapey neckline. It’s an ideal choice if you prefer to be a bit covered up. There is also a white option.

If you favour fit and flare designs – a staple in Carole’s wardrobe – then try this chiffon dress by Wallis. With a floaty midi pleated skirt and short sleeves, it’s ideal for an occasion. Elevate this look with matching millinery and nude heels.

For a silky dress in a similar hue to Carole’s, this from Ghost is a good choice. In a midi length and made from a weighty satin fabric, it’s an ideal occasion frock. Choose from five colours, including a dusky pink.
