Pi Fast Track KYC was rolled out a few months ago to new Pioneers and non-users, facilitating them to obtain a Mainnet wallet and participate in the Pi Mainnet ecosystem. The Fast Track KYC itself does not enable Mainnet migration. After observing its usage for the last few months, its underlying technology has been integrated into Pi’s Standard KYC process that unblocks one’s Mainnet migration.
By further leveraging AI in all validations, the update additionally:
- Resolves issues with Validator shortage in certain countries and regions;
- Helps unblock migrations for more Pioneers in a faster manner;
- Reduces the amount of human validation needed, saving the collective human resources of the network; and
- Reduces the amount of KYC application information displayed to human validators (note that any sensitive data are already redacted).
This integration not only allows applications to progress more efficiently but also reduces the workload for validators without reducing their opportunity to work. Since the AI reviews are purposefully set to be very conservative to prevent false positives, any unsure cases are still further routed to human validators for further verification and determination, and for reducing the AI’s false negatives (cases that should be passed but were rejected by AI).
While validators still have enough work from completing KYC validations—that continues to support the network by verifying accounts and unblocking Pioneers to migration—the collectively saved human labor force can be further allocated to new work opportunities from ecosystem utilities, such as human feedback to AI models or reinforcement training products.
Overall, the Pi KYC solution aims to provide accurate, accessible, scalable, and privacy-oriented identity verification for not only millions of Pioneers around the world, but also external services including those in Web3 or AI where verified identity and authenticity are critically needed.
Such improvements also amplify the long-term vision behind Pi’s identity-verified blockchain. Identity verification supports the use and development of apps and utilities in the ecosystem—in addition to ensuring the integrity of the network. Moreover, it allows the collective resources of the network to be turned into another platform-level utility with readiness for integrations by services that require verification and use cases that require human authenticity.
Integrating AI into the validation process strengthens all of these goals by making the system faster, more consistent, and easier to scale.
Update on Validator rewards distribution
The work on distributing rewards for validator work has been ongoing and is making progress. The first validator rewards distribution requires a significant amount of work to assess and analyze the immense volume of KYC validation task data accumulated since 2021. The amount of work is attributable to the:
- Volume of task data: hundreds of millions of validation tasks at different stages
- Complexity of task data: variations on tasks types, results and quality, in addition to tasks conducted at different phases of KYC processing (beta, testing, bootstrapping and scaled phases)
- Fairness of rewards in the distribution design and source of funds
- Scalability of the system architecture distributing these rewards to millions of validators currently, and also to support future reward cycles.
- Calculation accuracy and the security of distributing these rewards on the Mainnet blockchain
This work is targeted for deployment by the end of Q1 2026.
Updated KYC and Mainnet migration metrics
Pi recently released statistics on the number of Pioneers helped due to the new system process unblocking Tentatively KYC’d Pioneers.
Note that there are still about 3 million Tentatively KYC’d Pioneers who can be self-unblocked! To become eligible to be fully KYC’d, these Pioneers must submit the additional liveness checks in the app. If this applies to you, please complete the liveness checks as soon as possible.
Here’s a quick update on numbers of fully KYC’d and migrated Pioneers in the network:
- 17.5 million Pioneers have fully passed KYC
- 15.7 million Pioneers have migrated to the Mainnet
For Pioneers who have fully passed KYC, please complete the Mainnet Checklist to migrate yourself to Mainnet, which includes setting and confirming your Mainnet wallet, completing 2FA to secure your wallet, signing the Terms of receiving tokens, etc.
These millions of KYC’d Pioneers on the Pi Mainnet, with many more to join, are an important achievement of the collective efforts of the Pi community and a great resource of the network that not only help maintain the security and integrity of our network but serve as the foundation to nurture more real utilities in Web3 and AI industries that will shape our future.
