The Bailey’s Court Inn has has a £400k revamp

The much-loved community pub in Stoke Gifford has been transformed thanks to a £396k revamp.

The Bailey’s Court Inn in Bristol has undergone an major refurbishment, reopening as a ‘Grandstand’ sports pub with new features aiming to ‘rival a stadium experience’ for sports fans.

Community hero Dave Lovell joined general manager Chris in pouring the first pint to mark. Dave was chosen as Bailey Court Inn’s Community Hero as he’s a regular in the pub and was the first customer ever to have a pint when the venue opened in the 1980s.

New features include 3-metre-long and 1.8-metre-tall screens, with state-of-the-art sound systems, and feature flexible tiered seating. Outdoor bars now have screens have been added, and the Marston’s app means locals can order from their tables.

The Bailey’s Court Inn general manager Chris Winston said: “We’ve loved welcoming the community back with open arms! The response has been fantastic to our food and drink offers, as well as the new technology to watch all kinds of sports – we’re thankful that our pub is always full of good vibes, and real community spirit.”

The pub has been decorated with sports memorabilia and is on the hunt for photographs and merchandise, giving visitors the chance to fill the walls and celebrate the achievements of local sports stars and teams, past and present.

The Bailey’s Court Inn will show all key sporting fixtures, including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, F1, darts and horse racing. It also has dart boards and pool tables.

Festive events, include Sports with Santa, Penalty Shoot-out with Santa December 10 and Christmas Eve DJ.

A new range of bar food has been introduced and local sports teams to get their hands on a ‘Black Card’, securing them endless chips when they visit for team drinks, and even more rewards if they win their game.

The new ‘Grandstand’ concept has been introduced after industry research revealed that 8.5m consumers have watched sports games at a pub, and 86% of sports fans say that they watch games at sports pubs due to a livelier atmosphere, better screens, sound, and connecting with friends and family.

Marston’s picked The Bailey’s Court Inn as one of the pubs to receive the Grandstand makeover due to its involvement with local sports teams, community groups and charities.
