Morocco has achieved a new milestone in its citrus trade, setting a seasonal record for mandarin and clementine exports to Germany. According to EastFruit, shipments surged during the 2024/25 season, propelling Morocco to fourth place among suppliers to the German market.
Between October 2024 and September 2025, Moroccan exporters delivered 8,200 tons of mandarins and clementines to Germany, worth USD 12.1 million. This marks a 60% increase compared to the previous record set in 2022/23. For the first time, export revenues exceeded USD 10 million.

Germany is not traditionally a core destination for Moroccan mandarins. In 2024/25, however, its share rose to 1.45% of Morocco’s total exports, lifting Germany to 11th place among importers.
Moroccan shipments typically begin in October, peaking between December and March. In the past season, the highest monthly volume (1,500 tons) was recorded in January. While exports usually taper off from April and reach minimal levels in summer, the 2024/25 season was notable for significantly higher volumes in April-May compared with previous years.

Spain remains Germany’s dominant supplier, accounting for more than 76% of imports, though Spanish volumes have been declining in recent years. This has opened opportunities for other exporters. South Africa and Italy followed with 11% and 4% shares respectively, while the remaining 9% came from various origins.

Morocco’s record growth has strengthened its foothold in Germany. Its share of total imports rose to 2.5%, up from 1.3% the previous season. By expanding volumes, Morocco overtook Greece and Turkey to secure fourth place among mandarin and clementine exporters to Germany.
In addition to citrus, Morocco’s sweet corn exports to Germany are also on track to set a new record.
