A man has been charged after bottles of spirits were stolen during a break-in at a bar near Liverpool ONE. Police were called on Friday, December 5, following reports a suspect had forced entry into a bar on Great Charlotte Street and fled with several bottles of alcohol.
Officers on foot patrol in Liverpool city centre arrested a man on Tuesday evening (December 9) on suspicion of involvement in the burglary. Connor McBlain, 38, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with burglary and obstructing police after allegedly giving false details on arrest.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, December 11.
Police also received a separate report three days later that boxes of cigarettes had been stolen from Sainsbury’s on William Jessop Way.
Peter Davies, 46, of no fixed abode, was arrested and has now been charged with two counts of burglary and theft in relation to that incident.
Liverpool City Centre Neighbourhood Inspector Jack Woodward said: “I hope these two results offers some reassurance to business owners, staff and the wider community who visit the city centre that we take these reports extremely seriously.
“To steal from a business or a shop is not a victimless crime and can have a huge impact on both staff and organisations.
“With that being said, I would like to take this opportunity to remind business owners of important steps they can take to better secure their premises.
“Simply measures such as identifying possible entry points that will need added attention or CCTV can make a huge different. You get a lot of useful information on our website: Business crime prevention | Merseyside Police
