A CCTV image of a man has been released by police investigating an assault at Haymarket station in Edinburgh. The British Transport Police were called to the scene following the incident on Saturday, October 25.

Police believe the man may be able to assist their ongoing enquiries into the assault which occurred at around 7.20pm. He is described as white, in his late 30s or early 40s and of heavy build.

At the time, he was wearing glasses and a distinctive dark jacket with a gold design on it. No details as to the nature of the assault nor if there were any injuries as a result were released by the British Transport Police.

Officers would like to speak with the man and have asked anyone with any information which could help identify him to contact them. A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist their ongoing enquiries into an assault that occurred at around 7.20pm on Saturday, October 25 at Edinburgh Haymarket Station.

“The man is described as white, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, heavily built wearing glasses and a distinctive dark jacket with a gold design on it. Officers believe the man in the image may have information that could help with their investigation.
