British tennis ace Cameron Norrie has revealed his verdict on who reigns supreme between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, having faced both players on court. The 30-year-old will be eager to start afresh in the 2026 season following a disappointing 2025 campaign.

Alcaraz and Sinner have been absolutely phenomenal recently, with Norrie offering fresh insight into their rivalry, which has drawn comparisons to the legendary clashes between Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer. The pair have regularly met in major encounters, with Sinner emerging victorious in their latest showdown at the ATP Finals. Both athletes remain in the early stages of their careers, with many years of top-level competition ahead before a definitive ‘superior player’ could realistically be determined. Even then, another rising star could emerge to challenge these two champions.

As the discussion continues among tennis enthusiasts, Norrie has offered some insight from a player’s viewpoint on who might be the stronger competitor.

When posed the ultimate question on the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, Norrie explained he has never faced Sinner in an official match, though the pair have battled behind closed doors.

“I have practiced with him a lot,” Norrie disclosed, adding: “I really want to play him. I would like to do that first before I give you my honest opinion, but I always back Alcaraz to be honest.

“I always think he has more variety and I love watching him. He is so good to watch, my favourite to watch. So I always back Alcaraz and I stick with him.”

Alcaraz, 22, has appeared virtually unbeatable at various points throughout his career thus far. Nevertheless, Norrie boasts an impressive head-to-head record against the Spanish sensation, securing three victories from eight encounters.

When questioned about his strong record, Norrie explained: “I don’t know to be honest. You have to play well and I think it’s nice to be the underdog going in to play him. You have to stay disciplined with him and keep hanging with him.”

Discussing his off-season plans, Norrie added: “I am just excited to be with my team, all of us are going to Buenos Aires on Saturday. We are going to be in the heat. I want to get in there for two weeks, as hot as they can find, and enjoy that. Eat some good steaks.

“And my coach is getting married, so I want to go to his wedding as well, which is on the last day I’m there. I struggled a bit in the heat, so this year a goal of mine is to get back to being back and keep enjoying my tennis.

“I have not thought about any ranking goals but I want to keep enjoying it and I am just so happy to be playing to be honest and feel healthy and feeling so good. So I just want to enjoy.”

Currently, Norrie sits as Britain’s second-ranked player and 27th in the world standings. He’ll be grafting hard next season to surpass fellow Brit Jack Draper, who presently holds the top domestic ranking.

Despite clinching the ATP Finals to end the year, Sinner has concluded the season in second place behind Alcaraz. The latter has accumulated 12,050 points, with Sinner amassing 11,500.

The first Grand Slam event of 2026 is the Australian Open, set to commence on 12 January.
