Firefighters rushed to a property in East Lothian after a blaze broke out on Monday evening. Around 6.52pm crews were made aware of a fire on North High Street, Musselburgh.
Scottish Fire and Rescue dispatched three appliances and one height appliance to the scene and a number of residents were reportedly evacuated by emergency services. Police Scotland have since confirmed gas engineers are on scene but there is no risk to the wider public.
Pictures seen by Edinburgh Live show officers blocking the road to vehicles and pedestrians. Locals have been urged to avoid the area.
A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Emergency services were called to a property at North High Street, Musselburgh, at 7.10pm.
“Gas engineers are on the scene and the incident has been contained. There is no wider risk to the public. A number of buildings were evacuated and surrounding roads are currently closed.”
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.52pm to reports of a fire within a property on High Street, Musselburgh.
“We mobilised three appliances and one height appliance to the scene. Crews safely extinguished the fire and remain on scene making sure the area is safe. Police are in attendance carrying out evacuations of surrounding properties.”
