A Bristol gin bar aboard a boat has taken the top prize, being named the best in all of Dorset, Somerset and Bristol, at this year’s Muddy Stilettos Awards.

6 O’Clock Gin at The Glassboat was crowned winner in the Bar category, beating venues in Bruton, Sherborne, Frome, and even Bath, to win.

Located in Welsh Back in central Bristol, right on Bristol’s waterfront, it’s described as a ‘showcase venue’ and waterfront gin bar, where you can choose from a selection of G&T’s, gin cocktails, and a range of beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks.

Now in their 12th year, the hotly contested regional awards saw some half a million votes cast this year by readers of the award-winning lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos , with categories including beauty salon, boutique stay, cafe, casual dining, children’s business, destination pub, event venue, family experience, farm shop, florist, hotel, restaurant, and more.

This year’s awards have been dubbed the most popular to date, reaching over 11 million people nationally in eight weeks.

Here in Bristol, we had a number of finalists battling it out for the top spot, including Sona Pilates in the category of yoga/pilates studio, Sarah Wässer PT in the category of sport & fitness instructor, Lori Lori (hair salon), ILO (children’s business), Lido Townhouse and Artist Residence (boutique stay), Kabuki (beauty salon/clinic) and, of course, the winning bar venue at The Glassboat.

All regional winners in Dorset, Somerset & Bristol, along with winners from the other Muddy counties, will automatically go through to the 2025 National Awards and five businesses in each category will be picked by the Muddy Stilettos Editors to go through to the National Finals, with the ‘Best of the Best’ Winners crowned in June 2025.

Hero Brown, founder and editor-in-chief of Muddy Stilettos, said: “I set up these awards 12 years ago to give local lifestyle indies a chance to shine.

“It’s been an honour to showcase these most creative, innovative lifestyle businesses across Dorset, Somerset & Bristol, in partnership with our local sponsor Porter Dodson solicitors.

“The response to this year’s Muddy Awards has been incredible with thousands voting to support an amazing array of local businesses big and small.”
