People are making the most of the good weather by hitting the beach before the weekend. Temperatures are to remain pleasant over the coming days so a relaxing escape will be on the cards for many.

Merseyside’s coastline is enjoyable in many ways, whether it’s miles of golden sands to sprint along, rock pools to discover, wildlife trails to wander, or simply a spot to set up a barbecue with mates, you’re guaranteed a fantastic beach day out. Even though we’re not yet over hump day, it didn’t stop people grabbing their towels and heading to the seaside.

Crowds flocked to Crosby beach to lap up today’s good weather.

The six-mile stretch features the 100 cast-iron figures of Another Place, with sights of the Wirral and the North Wales hills in the background.

Located at the start of the 22-mile Sefton Coastal Path, and thanks to its close proximity to the Port of Liverpool, it is an ideal place to look out for container and cruise ships. The nearby Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre offers additional fun for anyone making the trip.

People made the most by kicking back and relaxing on the sand, kayaking through the waters, or sailing when the wind was strong enough to carry them. The beauty spot will only get more busy towards the weekend as temperatures continue to rise.

Liverpool was hotter than Ibiza today with temperatures reaching 26C while the Mediterranean island only enjoyed highs of 19C.

Forecasters said early “wispy cloud” breaking will allow increasingly lengthy periods of warm sunshine with temperatures rising well above the late-April norm.

Tonight there will be late evening sunshine, remaining dry overnight with largely clear skies. Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly said: “Thursday looks set to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures climbing notably above the seasonal average.

“Overnight temperatures will also be very high in places. It’s possible national and station records for daytime and overnight temperatures may be broken, but it’s unclear at this point whether heatwave criteria will be reached.

“If this happens, it is most likely in some of the lower category areas which require temperatures to reach 25C or above for three consecutive days.

“The far north will always see cooler conditions, with these more seasonal temperatures likely spreading erratically south later in the week.”
