A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing at a property in Wirral. Merseyside Police was alerted by the North West Ambulance Service just before 3pm on Tuesday, December 16, after reports that a man had been stabbed in the chest at an address on Big Meadow Road in Woodchurch.

Officers attended the scene and found a man in his 50s with a chest injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Following a search of the area, police located and detained a suspect in the Rake Lane area.

A 37-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Residents reported seeing a significant police presence in the area at around 3.30pm today. A police scientific support vehicle was also seen parked near Arrow Park Road following the incident.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following reports of a stabbing in the Wirral.

“Officers were called by the North West Ambulance Service to a property in Big Meadow Road in Woodchurch at just before 3pm today, Tuesday, December 16, following reports a man in his 50s had suffered an injury to his chest.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injury which is not believed to be life threatening.

“Following an area search a man was located in the area of Rake Lane and detained.

“Enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.”
