An Edinburgh man has tragically died while onboard a bus on Monday evening. Around 7.30pm on December 15, police were called to Milligan Drive following reports of the incident.

The road was closed for some time with buses diverted. Police taped off an area of the pavement while the bus was halted on the road.

Officers confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Pictures taken from the scene show two police cars in attendance. Paramedics and fire crews were also called to the incident.

Lothian Buses were unable to serve Milligan Drive and the service 14 route was instead diverted via Little France Drive and The Royal Infirmary.

One concerned passer-by said: “Police, ambulances and fire brigade on Milligan drive EH16 with a number 14 bus. It’s all taped off.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.30pm on Monday, 15 December, 2025, emergency services were called to Milligan Drive in Edinburgh following the death of a man.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
