Tributes have poured in for a loving father and grandfather after he was hit and killed by a lorry in Sheffield last month.

William Smith, 63, was killed when he was hit by a white Iveco lorry on Manchester Road in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield on November 8. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called at 12.11am that day.

His family have now paid tribute to Sheffield Wednesday fan William. A statement read: “William Smith was a very loved gentleman who would do anything for anyone and will be very much missed by his children, grandchildren and all his family and friends. WAWAW [We’re all Wednesday, aren’t we?]”

South Yorkshire Police said their investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing and have urged anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said the lorry driver remained at the scene and was helping the police with their enquiries.
