The brawl was caught on CCTV
A man was rammed by a car in a mass street brawl in New Brighton on Friday afternoon. Footage from CCTV cameras at Tower Stores on Seabank Road shows two masked youths armed with “batons” being chased up the main road by another pair of youths, one dressed in his pyjamas.
The pair turn to face their pursuers and a fight ensues. Two more race to join the brawl as the fight spills into the road, stopping traffic. The two youths armed with “batons” — as they were described to the ECHO — were disarmed.
The individual wearing a dressing gown and pyjama bottoms is seen to kick down with a bare foot onto the head of one of the youths, prompting two bystanders to intervene.
In an even more bizarre twist, a silver Skoda turns sharply off the road and forces its way through the melee as the two, now unmasked, youths flee into the shop. The female driver stalls the car and then exits the vehicle before approaching the shop door, which has apparently been barricaded from the inside.
She forcibly remonstrates with the individuals inside, before one of the youths comes out of the shop and throws a bottle at the car’s windscreen, causing part of it to smash. The youth is then set upon again, with several blows landing on the youth from four people, including the woman.

A man appears from the back of the shop and breaks up the fight. The woman gets back into the car with a male she had previously physically pushed out of the way with the bonnet of the vehicle.
One of the unmasked youths exits the shop, and the driver rams the youth with her car. She then cuts across traffic on Seabank Road as she leaves the scene.

Harry Walters, 71, local resident since 2017, is now planning to move away to West Kirby or Hoylake partly because of elements in New Brighton he describes as “yobbos”. He told the ECHO: “New Brighton is great, but I want to move on.
“It’s not the same as it was; you’ve got to be careful at night with the yobbos. The kids have got nowhere to go, that’s the problem.
“They need youth clubs and things to keep them off the streets. They’re hanging around on street corners, causing trouble”

The ECHO understands police were called to the scene. Sharing the video to social media, Tower Stores said: “The shop is temporarily closed due to an ongoing police investigation. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
“We hope to reopen as soon as possible. Please be assured that this investigation is related to external events and not connected to our business or operations. We all are safe.”
The shop has since reopened. Another local told the ECHO it was best to “keep their noses out of things that don’t concern them”.
The ECHO has attempted to contact Merseyside Police for more information.
