Merseyside Police descended on a street in Kirkby on Sunday night after a brick smashed through the window of a house. Police were called to Whitefield Drive in Kirkby at around 9.50pm on Sunday (December 21) with reports of criminal damage caused to a house.

Armed police officers attended the scene as it was initially reported that the damage had been caused by gun shots. However, when officers arrived they found that a brick had been thrown through the window of a house.

The ECHO was told a large police presence was in the area following the incident, with reports a helicopter and armed police was deployed to the scene.

Police said enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with information is urged to call 101 or DM @MerpolCC quoting log number 939 of December 21.
