San Marino RTV has announced new dates for the San Marino Song Contest, its selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The San Marino Song Contest will be held on March 2, 3 and 6, San Marino RTV has announced this afternoon. At a press conference reflecting on 2025 and looking ahead to 2026, the Sammarinese broadcaster announced the semi-finals will be held on March 2 and 3, with the final now scheduled for March 6. These dates are 1 day earlier than previously announced.

The Artistic Director for the contest will be Massimo Bonelli, while the set will be designed by Marco Calzavara. 

In addition, the Director General stated that San Marino RTV is continuing to work with the European Broadcasting Union on building a positive relationship between it and the Sammarinese broadcaster. He commented:

“We have started a new and constructive dialogue with the EBU so that San Marino receives the respect it deserves as a sovereign state, participating in Eurovision on an equal footing with all the other television stations and nations involved.”

San Marino RTV also announced Pop Road to Eurovision, a series hosted by Senhit, who represented San Marino at Eurovision 2011, 2020 and 2021, as part of the build up to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. Filming for the series appears to have taken place in the past week with Megara (2024) and Piqued Jacks (2023), appearing on Senhit’s Instagram stories.

Gabry Ponte represented San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Tutta l’Italia”, making the first appearance of the country in the Grand Final since 2021. San Marino finished last with 27 points.

San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. Miodio represented San Marino on their debut with the song “Complice”, and finished last in their semi-final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning again in 2011. Since then, the country has participated annually. San Marino first qualified for the final in 2014 and has gone on to qualify for the final on three further occasions, most recently in 2025.
