Kind-hearted residents across Sheffield have donated more than 1,150 brand-new presents to support children who might otherwise go without this Christmas.
Gifts were dropped off at 10 leisure centres across the city, where the festive Mission Christmas campaign has been running this December.
The centres, operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Sheffield City Council, have backed the UK-wide initiative led by Cash for Kids, Bauer Media’s official charity.
The campaign collects and distributes new gifts to disadvantaged children across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The mission is simple but vital: ensuring that every child wakes up to a present on Christmas Day.
By opening their doors to donations, Everyone Active made it easier for local residents to contribute, and the results have exceeded all expectations.
Lorenzo Clark, partnership manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’ve been completely blown away by the kindness of customers and colleagues this year, who have gone out of their way to help families who are struggling at this time of year.
“A huge thank you must go to every single person who has generously donated gifts.”
He added: “No child should go without this Christmas, and we hope these presents make a big difference to the lives of children in the area through the much-needed Mission Christmas campaign.”
The campaign highlights the generosity and community spirit of Sheffield residents, ensuring that local children experience the joy of Christmas.
Gifts collected at the centres will now be sorted and distributed to families in need ahead of the festive holiday.
