Andy Lee ***** as a trainer.

He seems to have got known as a great trainer from being in the camp when Fury beat Wilder… But he wasn’t the lead trainer.

Since then, his boxers rarely progress, or show anything other than plan A, which tends to be just basic fundamentals like jabbing. His boxers always have terrible footwork. Need more at the top level than what Andy Lee offers.

Having said that, Ben has natural talent, and he’s missing fundamentals, so it could be a useful link up – in the short term.

Andy Lee won’t be able to take him to the top. He’s not good enough.

Your comment *****, I’m sure you would make a better trainer than Andy Lee, fool

I sense Whtitaker is maturing in his approach to fights. Showboat for a few rounds against overmatched opponents or make it a short evening and head to the showers. I think he realizes the latter attracts far more fans. He can be the flamboyant salesman during post-fight interviews.

I think Andy Lee will be a good influence in his corner. Proper mechanics when sitting down on his punches, etc. I’m looking forward to Whittaker’s ascension.

He’s quite gifted. At this stage, sure, below the top 3 outstanding light heavyweights, Bicol, Benavidez and Beterbiev, but not far below.

He would be too slick for Yarde and Buatsi, who got a gift decision against Zack Parker, if I recall the name correctly.

Just needs to remember that he’s 28 and not 20 or 25. Change the entourage if needed and surround himself with adults. It will be easier to stay focused, put in time tuning his skills and give himself the best chance possible to get a belt and/or make good $.
