Three people have been arrested after police raided two houses in Prescot and Huyton. The arrests were made today, Tuesday December 23, during a joint operation between Merseyside Police’s Project Medusa and Police Scotland.

Officers found a significant amount of suspected class A controlled drugs and a large amount of cash and drugs paraphernalia. Following the operation, three people were detained. A 38-year-old man from Whiston was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

A 31-year-old woman from Whiston was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply class a drugs and possession of criminal property.

A 41-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession of class A drugs.

Detective Sergeant Peter Sloan from Merseyside’s Project Medusa said: “No area or community is immune to county lines drug supply, which is why intelligence‑led operations like this are essential to disrupt involved in the distribution of harmful drugs.

“Today’s action, delivered alongside Police Scotland, resulted in three arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs. This sends a clear message to those intent on exploiting vulnerable people and transporting drugs.”

Detective Inspector Andrew Machray from Police Scotland said: “Taking drugs off the streets and protecting vulnerable people in our communities who are all too often coerced, groomed and threatened by County Lines drug dealers remains a priority for Police Scotland.

“This joint enforcement action with our colleagues at Merseyside Police underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and Scotland’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We work tirelessly in partnership with a wide range of organisations, including police forces across the UK, to target organised criminals who only care about power and money and travel to exploit our communities.

“Information from the public is crucial in helping us to combat those involved in drugs activity in our communities, and it is only when working together we can tackle drug dealing.”
