A teenager is due to appear in court over an alleged murder bid on a man in Glasgow city centre. It comes as, on Tuesday, December 16, a 29-year-old man was attacked in Gordon Street.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, however, his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Officers working as part of Operation Dynos arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the incident this week.

He has since been charged with four retail offences, including shoplifting and assaults of retail workers, which took place between December 14 and 19 in Glasgow and Renfrew. He has also been charged with attempted murder.

The teen is scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Christmas Eve.

PC Paul Steell from Operation Dynos said: “Our operation is aimed at tackling organised crime sponsored offending, particularly in relation to retail crime and thanks to some outstanding enforcement work by our divisional colleagues in Glasgow and their subsequent engagement with ourselves, we have charged a male with multiple retail offences in addition to the attempted murder of a man on Gordon Street, Glasgow.

“Police Scotland remains committed to tackling both crimes of violence and any offences involving organised crime, including those targeting Scotland’s retail sector.

“Operation Dynos, the Retail Crime Taskforce and local policing divisions will continue to work together and alongside key partners to prevent retail crime, keep communities safe and bring offenders to justice.”
