As the Beckham feud continues, youngest son Cruz Beckham has broken his silence with an explosive statement. But it’s feared his outburst could now make “a bad situation worse”.
In recent days, it was reported that 26-year-old Brooklyn Beckham has unfollowed his parents David and Victoria Beckham, with them unfollowing him in return. Hitting back, Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz, 20, took to Instagram Stories, insisting; “NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.”
It comes amid an ongoing rift, with photographer-turned-chef Brooklyn and his actress wife Nicola Peltz Beckham said to have gone ‘no contact’ with the Beckhams. So far, David and Victoria have kept quiet on the matter, with only Cruz’s claim shedding light on what’s really going on behind the walls of Beckingham Palace. But could his public clarification do more harm than healing?

“Cruz’s position in this tragic family rift is an understandable one but Victoria and David will also very likely be attuned to the fact that it risks making a bad situation worse,” body language and communications expert Judi James told the Mirror.
“Parents do need to keep a dignified silence when there’s a problem in the family and an estrangement from a much-loved son, as there sadly appears to be with this scenario. Parental love is unconditional and they will be aware, like all parents, that circumstances can change.
“A door needs to be kept open to offer Brooklyn an open, loving and unjudged return should he need one. As agonising as it might be to hear or read speculation or even accusations in public, any negative response will only make any reconcilliation less likely. Parents need to display total loyalty and wisdom in situations like these.”
But what is the story between Brooklyn and his baby brother? Cruz, in particular, seems to have been keenly affected by the seismic split in the once unified family. It’s believed Brooklyn will be spending the Christmas holidays in the Miami mansion he shares with his actress wife Nicola and her parents – while the rest of the Beckham clan will be spending the festivities at Victoria and David’s Cotswolds home.
Last week, Cruz made what appeared to be a last ditch attempt at peace ahead of the Christmas festivities(Image: Instagram)
Last week Cruz sent a subtle sign to his estranged brother that he’d like them to make peace. Clearly missing his big brother, he took to Instagram to share a throwback snap of the pair along with Romeo on a beach in Brazil. It showed budding chef Brooklyn with his arm around Cruz as they struck a pose on the sand. The weekend before, Cruz shared a sweet home video clip of the pair as children and previously shared a family photo of himself, Brooklyn, Romeo and their dad during a 2021 holiday, alongside the caption: ‘Love you guys @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham.’
But despite his heartbreaking longing, Cruz has been the one to speak out. It was widely thought that he was addressing the feud when he captioned a clip of The Beatles’ 1969 track The End, with: “The truth will unfold.” The lyrics featured in the post included: “Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / And in the end / The love you take / Is equal to the love you make.”
He also appeared to take a pop at his brother’s many careers back in June. Promoting a snippet of his track, For ya love, on his TikTok page, one follower replied “Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?” Cruz was quick to retort with: “Wrong brother mate.”
Another person posted: “He has the talent of an average teenage boy that just recently started learning guitar,” to which Cruz said: “It’s easy to comment on TikTok isn’t it, u think I care what you think darling.”
A perceived jab also came in September when Brooklyn represented Europe in the Ryder Cup’s Celebrity Match at Bethpage Black. Cruz re-posted a meme video of a man excitedly saying: “Gosh I’m just fired up to be today.” Alongside the meme, the caption read: “The one friend who sucks at golf but comes for the vibes.” Above the post, Cruz added: “That’s me”.
It was Cruz who set the record straight when it was briefed that Nicola and Brooklyn swerved David’s 50th celebrations because of Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim Turnbull. It was claimed that Kim was previously involved with Brooklyn, making things awkward for the pair. However, Cruz hit back, commenting on social media that they ‘never dated’.

Kim herself later fumed that she was ’embarrassed by the lies’ and could stay quiet no longer. Taking to Instagram, Kim fired: “I’ve avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it’s come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on.”
She continued: “I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative. I have never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point with the person in question. Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16. I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation and set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved.”
And Judi believes that Cruz’ outspoken handling of the fall-out stems from his desire to ‘protect’ his beloved mum. “Siblings often feel much less constraint. A parent will feel loyalty to all their children but siblings rarely feel quite so prone to being open-minded and forgiving, especially if they’re witnessing the upset the stray sibling is causing to the people they love the most, ie their mum and dad,” she says.

“Cruz’s feelings of loyalty to his mum in particular might easily prompt him to want to fight back on her behalf, especially if he’s witnessing her distress first-hand. He will probably see any ‘setting the record straight’ as being totally justified which, in many ways it is. Even close siblings have power battles and squabbles and its usually the parents acting as intermediaries, but here it sounds like Cruz wanting to protect his parents.
“The problem for Victoria and David is that, if the battle between siblings kicks off, it is going to be harder to broker any return to the fold from Brooklyn. It’s a similar but obviously not the same problem that Charles must now have with William and Harry. The loyal son who has stayed with his parent/s might well create, wittingly or unwittingly, a ‘Him or me?’ choice that no parent will want to take. If the rift between the siblings deepens and lasts longer the parents might find themselves unable to reconcile the entire family again.
“Hopefully it won’t get that far for the Beckams but the royals might be a perfect example of how, when it comes to a battle between siblings rather than sibling/parents, the chances of accepting the returning sibling and keeping the ‘loyal’ one happy can become more and more remote with time.”
The chance of Brooklyn returning appears to be slim at the moment after he reportedly blocked his entire family because their social media posts give him and Nicola ‘anxiety’.
Taking to Instagram last Wednesday, footballing legend David shared a snap of himself, Victoria, Romeo, Cruz and Harper celebrating his MLS title in Miami – but also included a throwback snap in the same post of David with Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz after winning that same cup as a player with LA Galaxy, in 2011 and 2012.
He captioned it, ‘License to cry,’ as he celebrated making history as the first person to win the MLS Cup both as a player with Los Angeles Galaxy and owner.

At the end of November, Brooklyn’s grandmother Jackie, who spent a lot of time with him as a baby and toddler when his famous parents worked away, also seemed to be sending her grandson a message to build bridges and come home for Christmas.
She shared a sweet festive picture which included Brooklyn’s own personalised red stocking hanging from her fireplace, which daughter Victoria shared. His stocking joined those for Romeo, Cruz and Harper as well as all their cousins, including Liberty, Tallulah, Finlay and Quincy, who Victoria’s younger sister Louise shares with her ex-husband, Darren Flood. Captioning the video, the fashion designer wrote: ‘So many grandchildren!’
An unnamed ‘friend’ told the Daily Mail: “The Instagram stuff is just a media play – it feels like more manipulation, more gaslighting. It just drives Brooklyn and Nicola further away. They get upset by the speculation. They are trying to take the high road which is not to react at all and to just live their lives.”
