Latest police data reveals the city areas with the worst record for violence and sexual offences in the past 12 monthsPolice at the scene in Villa Road, Lozells after an incident

New crime figures have revealed the worst areas for violence and sex offences in Birmingham this year – including a spot struck by 12 per day.

Every area within Birmingham has now been ranked, according to the latest stats for West Midlands Police on police.uk.

Birmingham city centre – an area with the largest footfall – unsurprisingly had the highest figure for violence and sexual offences for the last 12 months between Oct 2024 – Sept 2025.

In the last few months, the centre has been marred by a number of stabbings – including the horrific killing of Katie Fox on Smallbrook Queensway at the start of November.

Several teenagers were also knifed near to the Bullring as trouble flared during separate incidents in October and November.

According to the stats, a total of 4,694 violence and sexual offences – an average of 12 per day – were reported to police in the city centre in the last year.

Other areas had less than half the number of crimes, but were still much higher than other areas. Lozells and East Handsworth held the second worst rate of violence, with 2,314 across the same 12 months.

In November, members of the public had rushed to help a stabbing victim aged in his 20s in Hutton Road, Lozells. He tragically died at the scene, with a murder probe subsequently launched.

Aston was the only other area in Birmingham with over 2,000 violent crimes. A total of 2,284 were recorded for the hotspot area. Also in November, the area was rocked by a stabbing on site at the Aston University campus.

A teenager suffered life-changing injuries as he was knifed after a ‘social’ football game in the Aston Triangle area of the city. The spots with the lowest figure were smaller areas like the NEC and Birmingham Airport.
