We all know the old saying ‘a pet is for life, not just for Christmas‘ and right now there are dogs – and cats – looking to find their forever homes. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre (ARC) currently has a vast number of animals who have been reserved by what will hopefully be their forever families.

However, there are still some on the list waiting for their soulmates and perfect companions to pick them up and give them another chance in a loving home they deserve. In addition to dogs and cats, the Centre also has a number of birds and small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils on the list.

At this time of year, some of the animals spending time here even have festive inspired names – like Grinch the rabbit, Klaus the cat, and even gerbils Angel and Gabriel. You can find out more about them on the official Bristol ARC website.

Bristol ARC told BristolLive that they will have 36 animals on site and 16 in foster over Christmas, which doesn’t include any strays that get dropped off between now and over Christmas, as staff take them in every day.

We’ve compiled a list of the dogs and cats among the list this festive season below. Here’s hoping come 2026 they’ll be off this list and in the arms of their new forever families…
