Four people have been arrested following reports of a Christmas Day fight, a ‘shooting’ and a ‘stabbing’ near Tameside. Officers were called out to reports of a man being assaulted on Bradwell Lea, in Gamesley, near Glossop, at 4.20pm this afternoon (December 25).

Derbyshire Police says the man, aged in his late teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head. He remains there in a serious condition this evening.

A second man, also aged in his late teens, attended Glossop police station a short time later with stab wounds to his abdomen. He was also taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police say CCTV from the scene shows what appears to be a firearm being discharged. However, there have been no gunshot injuries to either of the men that are in hospital and it is not believed that anyone has been injured by a firearm.

Four people – three men and a woman – have been arrested in connection with the incident following armed officers attending a property on Hollins Close, in Gamesley. At this time, it is believed that all those involved in the incident have been detained.

While the investigation is in its early stages it is believed that the victims and suspects are known to one another and there is no wider risk to the public from those involved. A Derbyshire Police spokesperson added: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident – in particular anyone with CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage.”
