Three Welsh destinations have secured spots in the top 20 finest locations across the UK for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Global travel platform Big 7 Travel has recognised these three Welsh venues as among Britain’s premier destinations for gathering with friends and revelling on New Year’s Eve.

The travel platform produces this annual ranking in the lead-up to the festive season, drawing on responses from its extensive social media community and incorporating ratings based on event diversity, street celebrations, transport links and affordability.

Edinburgh claims the summit of the rankings, being hailed as “the ultimate place to be for a New Year’s celebration”. Regarding the Welsh inclusions, one has secured a place in the top 10, while two others have earned positions within the top 20.

Swansea – 13th place overall in the UK

It reads: “Head for bottomless brunch on New Year’s Eve, attend a 1920s-themed jazz or swing party, dance the night away at one of the many clubs or bars or simply enjoy a drink at a pub with friends and cheers as the clock strikes midnight.

Cardiff – 6th place overall in the UK
