Wolves are set for a big summer – and have eyes on a striker who has just been relegated from the Premier League.

Wolves fans have watched on in awe recently, with the team having recorded six wins on the spin.

Vitor Pereira has done a terrific job at Molineux, and there is new optimism within the fanbase that the Portuguese can bring back the good times.

But to do that he’ll need a good level of backing from Fosun.

Whether he gets that or not remains to be seen, with Fosun again keen to adopt a self-sustaining model.

One position that will likely be targeted for strengthening is striker.

And there is now word of interest in a player from Southampton.

Wolves are going to lose Matheus Cunha in the next transfer window.

He has not really operated as a striker for Wolves, but he’s still scored a lot of goals that will need replacing.

There’s also potential for Hwang Hee-chan to leave Wolves this summer, with several clubs appreciating the South Korean.

Fabio Silva has been suggested as an option by some. But Silva is now all but certain to leave Wolves on a permanent transfer according to new reports.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Cameron Archer is someone Wolves currently have an eye on.

He told The Wolfpack podcast last night: “It’s not a deal that Wolves are looking to do (Jamie Vardy). They’ll buy younger. One of the names I’ve heard out there for Leeds and Wolves – it’s more like an internal conversation than necessarily a player wolves are actively approaching or working on – but they like the profile of Cameron Archer at Southampton.”

Jacobs also suggested Wolves are interested in Troy Parrott, who has shone with AZ Alkmaar this season.

How Archer has fared at Southampton amid Wolves links

Archer signed for Southampton last summer from Aston Villa for a fee of around £15 million (BBC Sport).

Obviously, the 2024/25 season was a complete nightmare for Southampton, and they have already been relegated from the Premier League as one of the division’s worst ever outfits.

Archer has made 36 appearances for the club across all competitions, and scored five goals.

He had brief moments though, and in December Russell Martin really sang his praises, saying (via Birmingham Mail): “I think he’s been really good for us.

“In his short spell here, he’s been a real threat. He’s improving all the time. I really love him as a boy… and I think he’s a brilliant signing for us. I think he’ll score a lot for us.”
