Although 3-1 down after 24 hours – an own goal had put Reds back on level terms – Kieffer Moore reduced the deficit for Phil Parkinson’s side before the break.

There was only one team in it after that and Wrexham equalised through Ryan Longman before Moore, with his 12th goal of the season, made it 4-3 and Josh Windass converted a penalty to complete the scoring and seal a brilliant comeback victory.

Here’s how the players rated.

ARTHUR OKONKWO: It was a tough start for Wrexham who trailed 3-1 after 24 minutes but Okonkwo made some good saves after that. 6

MAX CLEWORTH: The Reds switched off as United took control of the game but they got to grips with the visitors after that. 6

DOMINIC HYAM: Wrexham’s back-line recovered from the iffy start and Hyam was unlucky not to win a penalty at the other end. 6

CALLUM DOYLE: The defending was not up to scratch as United build up a two-goal lead but Wrexham nullified their threat in the second half. 6

RYAN LONGMAN: Eclipsed by Thomason, the other wing-back, but his 51st minute equaliser set the tone for the second half. 7

MATTY JAMES: Parkinson went with two holding midfielders with James and Sheaf running the game in the second half. 7

BEN SHEAF: The holding midfielder was a presence in front of the defence but also got forward to support attacks and played well. 8

GEORGE THOMASON: A revelation playing out of position at left wing-back, having a hand in three goals before winning a penalty. Blades will be glad to see the back of Thomason. 9

JOSH WINDASS: Wrexham’s attacking play was good all game but they really did step up a gear in the second half. Assist for first goal and scored penalty. 8

KIEFFER MOORE: Was a threat all match and was rewarded with two goals against his former club. 8

NATHAN BROADHEAD: Had a brilliant game, maybe his best for Wrexham. United could not handle him and had assist for Moore’s second goal. 8

SUBSTITUTES
