Pat Connah has turned her and her neighbour’s semi-detached Sandycroft property into a winter wonderland – all in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

Pat’s neighbour, Graham Nicholls, received life-saving care and treatment from Wales Air Ambulance after suffering an accident at work.

Graham, an experienced scaffolder, fell over 20 feet on to concrete while working near Hawarden Airport a couple of years ago.

He was left with critical life threatening injuries too numerous to list and was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

During his journey there, air ambulance paramedics were able stabilise his condition.

“The fact he made it to the hospital was only due to the high standard of care he received in the helicopter, equal to hospitalisation,” Pat said.

“On arrival he was rushed to theatre where the amazing NHS staff put him back together again. After several more surgeries and rehabilitation he came home, and was soon walking about again.

“Now he is even back to work, on lighter duties but improving all the time, he is even riding out on his much loved horse in company with Steph.”

And Pat was also supported by an off-duty Wales Air Ambulance paramedic when she suffered serious ankle injuries in a fall.

“We are so lucky to have Wales Air Ambulance to help people like Graham, and one of their off duty paramedics helped me after my accident,” Pat said.

“Please support this cause and donate what you can, we must keep this magnificent service going, you never know when you could need it.”

The JustGiving page can be donated to via https://shorturl.at/7abRT, with money raised going to the Wales Air Ambulance charity – which is funded by donations.

It took Pat and her family three days to put up all the lights – which she raised money to buy by selling homemade jars of jams and chutney.

“The main reason we’ve done it is to raise money,” Pat said. “But it’s been absolutely brilliant to see people’s reaction to it. Especially with us being near a school, the children absolutely love it.”
