An Edinburgh flight was boarded by police on Christmas Eve after items were reported stolen from a trolley. The incident took place onboard the Ryanair flight before it landed at the capital airport on Wednesday, December 24.
A passenger onboard the flight captured the moment an announcement was made, asking the alleged thief to hand over the stolen items. Officers were also photographed on the aircraft walking up and down the aisle.
In the video – which was shared on the video sharing platform, TikTok – someone can be heard over the sound system saying: “The items, if they hand them over, if that happens everyone gets off the plane quicker. If not, individually, everyone will be searched.”
It is understood the flight departed from Las Palmas on Christmas Eve and the items which were alleged to have been stolen from the trolley on the Ryanair flight were not recovered. It is unknown if passengers were individually searched.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15pm on Wednesday, 24 December, 2025, we received a report of items being stolen on a flight landing at Edinburgh Airport.
“Enquiries were carried out however the items were not recovered.”
Ryanair was approached for comment.
