Opting to bat on a surface which had ample assistance for the spinners right from the outset, the hosts were pegged back early with Subrayen dismissing the openers, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson, cheaply. Jos Buttler attempted to cut loose with a couple of boundaries early on, but his innings was also cut short by Subrayen in the fifth over, reducing Super Giants to 23 for 3 by the Powerplay.
