LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) – Laurel County deputies arrested a 24-year-old London man Wednesday morning in connection with an armed robbery at a Marathon gas station last week.
Tanner Couch was arrested at about 7:18 a.m. at a residence off Hopper Creek Road, about nine miles south of London, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

The arrest stems from an armed robbery that occurred Dec. 23 at approximately 10:48 p.m. at the Marathon Superstation on Barbourville Road, about four miles south of London. A lone suspect entered the store armed with a pistol and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office posted information about the robbery on their Facebook page and sent details to media outlets. Numerous tips from the public, along with information developed by sheriff’s investigators, led to the positive identification of the suspect.
Sgt. Robert Reed obtained an arrest warrant charging Couch with first-degree robbery. On Wednesday morning, investigators developed information about the suspect’s whereabouts and traveled to the Hopper Creek Road residence.
Deputies located and arrested Couch without incident. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Sheriff Root thanked citizens for their tips, which he said were crucial in making the arrest. The case underscores the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the community in making Laurel County safer, Root said.
