Residents in Caterham, Reigate and Ewell were among those who shared photos of wintry scenes with BBC Weather Watchers.

A Met Office yellow warning of snow and ice for the county was in force for Friday morning with Met Office forecaster Neil Armstrong predicting the cold spell “could last well into next week”.

A UK Health Security Agency amber cold health alert is in force until 9 January, with sub-zero temperatures expected at night-time in many places.
