Travel…

To drive from Bristol to Barrow A.F.C.’s SO Legal Stadium, begin by joining the M5 northbound from Bristol, following signs for Birmingham and the North West. Continue on the M5 until it merges with the M6 near Birmingham, then stay on the M6 heading north towards Preston and Carlisle. After passing Preston, take Junction 36 to join the A590, signposted for Barrow-in-Furness.

Follow the A590 west for around 30 miles, continuing straight as it becomes a dual carriageway and then a single carriageway closer to Barrow. As you approach the town, follow signs for the town centre and Holker Street. SO Legal Stadium is located on Holker Street.

Opposition…

Barrow are playing in Sky Bet League Two for the sixth straight season after gaining promotion from the National League in the 2019/20 campaign. After two seasons towards the bottom of the table, the Bluebirds then finished in eighth and ninth in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, respectively.

However, after finishing 21st last term, they are back battling against the drop and are 19th, seven points ahead of the relegation zone. They have had a change of head coach this season, with Andy Whing departing the club midway through December after the Bluebirds went on a run of six fixtures without a victory.

Paul Gallagher was brought in as a member of Barrow’s interim coaching team, impressing the hierarchy during the festive fixtures, most notably leading the side to a 3-1 victory away at Tranmere Rovers. He was appointed as Barrow’s Head Coach on Thursday, so he will be keen to get off to a fast start in his first game in charge full-time.
