A man suffered a “serious, life-changing injury” after a Vauxhall crashed into a tree. Merseyside Police received a report at around 11.10am on Friday that a Vauxhall Vectra had crashed into a tree on Gorsey Lane, in Bold, St Helens.
A 28-year-old man sustained a serious arm injury and a young boy also suffered minor injuries. They were both taken to hospital. A 24-year-old woman from Winsford was arrested on suspicion of serious injury by dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.
She has now been released under investigation whilst officers continue their enquiries.
Inspector Ian Cowell, from Merseyside Police’s roads policing unit, said: “We know that a number of witnesses stopped at the scene of this serious collision yesterday morning on Gorsey Lane but then left before our officers arrived.
“If you were one of these people who stopped on Gorsey Lane and has any information or possible dashcam footage of the incident please come forward as soon as possible and help us with our enquiries.
“A young man is in hospital with a life-changing injury to his arm and we are determined to get answers with your support.”
Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service and the air ambulance all attended the crash at the junction with Frenchfields Crescent.
