An 81-year-old man completed one million steps to raise money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. John Le Brocq managed to raise £5,300.

He completed the gruelling fitness challenge which took place between May and September of last year. The challenge required consistent dedication over five months. John would have been averaging roughly 6,500 to 7,000 steps every single day.

On a Facebook post the charity shared: “John’s determination and commitment are truly inspiring. His hard work and dedication provide the vital funds we need to care for our young patients and their families.”

The funds raised by John will go directly toward enhancing patient care, funding life-saving equipment, and providing support services that make the hospital experience less daunting for children and their parents which are the key goals of the Charity.

More people can get involved with raising money for the charity by joining to take part in the Kiltwalk this year.

The Kiltwalk has different distances so people of different ages and abilities can take part in the challenge including a ” Mighty Stride” which is a 20 mile walk, a “Big Stroll” which is 14 miles and a “Wee Wander” which is between three and five miles.

The entry fee for the walk is £20 for adults and £7 for children but there is a discount that can be requested on the charity website.
