Australia 119-1: Travis Head hits his 500th run of the series

While we are on the subject of milestones, Travis Head has also just brought up his 500th run of the series, clipping Brydon Carse away for a single.

It’s been an epic series for the Aussie who is also the first player to reach 500 in an Ashes series at a strike rate of 75 or more.

The swashbuckling South Australian notably struck a huge 123 in Perth, before going on to make 170 to help his side secure the Ashes in his home town of Adelaide.

Head might have struggled in Melbourne, just missing out on a half-century in the second innings, but he’s impressing at the SCG today, having amassed a score of 64 off 64 deliveries.

And he’s inspiring his team-mate Marnus Labuschagne to keep the runs ticking over too.

The Queensland batter, who has just copped a nasty one on the thumb, is taking full advantage of England’s indifferent bowling performance, swiping a short ball from Matthew Potts away for a four.

Australia 129-1 and trail England by 255 runs.
