The cast of Stranger Things break down in tears in the first look at a new documentary about the final season’s production – with Millie Bobby Brown admitting ‘I’m not ready to let go’.
Netflix has announced and released a teaser for One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5.
The documentary gives fans an insight into the years of work that went into the beloved show’s last-ever series.
One Last Adventure will be released on the streaming platform at 8am GMT on January 12.
During the trailer, several stars are overcome with emotion, including Millie and Noah Schnapp, both 21.
Millie – who played Eleven throughout the entire run – admits in a voiceover: ‘I’m not ready to let go.’
Stranger Things fans are being treated to a ‘making of’ documentary for the final season – with stars including Millie Bobby Brown seen looking emotional
Noah Schanpp, who played Will Byers throughout the series, was also shown in tears as the trailer touched upon feelings of wrapping up the show
Twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer created the series and described the documentary as ‘behind-the-scenes storytelling’
Speaking about the documentary, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer said: ‘Growing up in Durham, North Carolina, we dreamed of becoming filmmakers – but Hollywood felt impossibly far away.
‘Everything changed when we watched the behind-the-scenes documentaries for The Lord of the Rings – on-the-ground films that showed the real nuts and bolts of how a massive production actually gets made.
‘We saw how stressed Peter Jackson was and thought: yep, that’s the dream. With the decline of physical media, that kind of behind-the-scenes storytelling has largely disappeared.
‘We wanted to bring it back. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 – beautifully captured and directed by Martina Radwan – is our attempt to do just that.
‘If you love Stranger Things, or if you’re simply curious how a major Hollywood production comes to life, this one’s for you.’
Director Martina Radwan added: ‘“I’m endlessly grateful to the Duffer Brothers for trusting me with a front-row seat to this incredible journey.
Viewers review-bombed Stranger Things following its penultimate episode – with many left unimpressed
During season five, volume two, character Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) finally came out as gay – but fans criticised the scene’s execution
Speculation surrounding his sexuality intensified in later seasons, particularly after Mike, played by Finn Wolfhard (seen), lashed out at Will for not liking girls
‘Spending a full year on set with them was a true privilege – and an absolute thrill.
‘Being able to get close and watching them bring this beloved show to life in real time, was pure joy.
‘I only wish I could travel back in time and document Seasons 1 through 4. From the cast to their long-time collaborators, everyone welcomed me with remarkable generosity, openly sharing their personal and collective experiences from a decade of creative filmmaking.
‘The Duffers always push boundaries and inspire everyone to be better, including myself. Their process and the show represents everything I love about filmmaking.’
The show’s final-ever episode – Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up – dropped on December 31 in the US and January 1 in the UK.
In the finale, fans watched Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the rest of the gang try and take down Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Mind Flayer, as well as try and close the gap between the real world and the Upside Down.
The evil characters are killed by El and they successfully managed to close the gap.
However, some viewers were left thoroughly unimpressed, with one writing: ‘Stranger Things season 5 has to be the worst season of woke utter tripe ever.. 3 years to produce that sh**e.’
‘Ppl who r too woke watched Stranger Things like ok it’s ok now go get a job.’
‘Girl the way nothing makes sense at all is truly keeping me sane and woke like this isn’t my Stranger Things idk what imposter show they have on Netflix rn but good lord.’
‘I can’t even watch it now. They ruined it for a woke stupid agenda for no reason. Stranger Things sucks.’
Despite that, others are gutted it’s over and think that it was a great show.
‘Think it’s going to take a lot to top #StrangerThings as a piece of television and storytelling. Just amazing.’
‘A series is truly defined by its ending… And Stranger Things Season 5 REALLY DELIVERS!’
‘FINISHED WATCHING THE FINAL EPISODE LAST NIGHT. TOTALLY AMAZING. IM GLAD DECIDED TO GIVE A WATCH BEFORE SEASON 3 STARTED.’
‘Stranger Things ending left a smile on my face tears in my eyes, it was a amazing journey, Thank you duffer brothers for this beautiful ending.’
‘What A Beautiful Ending To An Amazing Show.’
‘They said goodbye to their childhood. What a beautiful ending to an amazing show.’
