A body has been discovered in the search for a missing Co Tyrone man who was last seen on New Year’s Day.
Taylor Stewart (21) was last seen at approximately 5.30am on 1 January in the Church Heights area of the Cookstown.

The father-of-one’s family, alongside police made extensive appeals for information which may lead to his whereabouts, however a body has now been discovered.
In a statement, PSNI spokesperson said: “Police can confirm that the body of a man has been located in Cookstown this afternoon, Wednesday 7 January.
“Whilst formal identification has not taken place, the family of Taylor Stewart, who has been missing since the early hours of New Year’s Day, has been informed.”
Community Rescue Service Belfast District also released a statement sending their sympathies following the body’s discovery.
“From early hours on Thursday 1st January 2026, the Community Rescue Service volunteers have been searching for a high-risk missing person believed to be within the Cookstown area,” they said.
“We regret to inform you that early this afternoon Community Rescue Service volunteers along with the Police Service of Northern Ireland located a body in the Cookstown area.
“The management and volunteers of the Community Rescue Service extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased.”
On Tuesday his older sister, Paige, said: “Me and mummy would fight to our deaths for you to come home, we are not whole without you.”
She also told this newspaper yesterday: “I have no further information, apart from [that] someone somewhere knows something, and if they have any sort of conscience, they would leave a note or tell someone where he is. We are all slowly fading away without him.”
