Located on the corner of Wellington Street and Bath Street within the city centre, its prominent location and lit-up historic external facade delivers an immediate sense of style and sophistication – almost like a little sister to the nearby Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa if you will.
I enjoyed a solo night in one of the hotel’s Studio Rooms. Designed to cater to both short stays and extended visits, each offers an open-plan living and sleeping area, with a stylish and well-equipped kitchenette – with fridge and microwave, crockery and cutlery – and contemporary touches such as a coffee pod machine, in-room steamer and 43″ Flat screen TV, as well as a dedicated workspace and high-speed Wi-Fi for those who need to work or check emails.

The combination of soundproofed windows, elegant and rich interior, mood lighting and quality bedding allowed me to have a cosy and comfortable sleep, with the luxurious toiletries and powerful shower allowing me to begin the following morning feeling refreshed for the day ahead.
Forgoing use of the gym, I visited the lobby shop and café bar adjacent to the hotel’s pleasant and welcoming reception to take advantage of grab-and-go breakfast offer with a strong coffee and pastry. An impressive selection of high quality ready-meals – think burrito bowls and Mexican steak mince enchiladas – are also available for those keen on hotel room dining, while I’m told an imminent premises licence will allow for a relaxed drinks experience for guests in the evening.
