Hidden away in one of Birmingham’s historic railway arches, I love Attic Brew Co.’s The Barrel Store. Not just for its many “hop-forward pale ales and IPAs”, or its unique project ageing various beers in red wine barrels, but also as the home of Birmingham’s no-rules pizza outfit Deathrow Pizza.

There are countless pizzerias in the Second City, but nobody’s doing it like this. Because like this means ‘your pizza, your way’. Forget the purists who say the only slice should be a margherita slice using only real Italian ingredients. You can do whatever you like. And yeah, you can even add pineapple.

At the do-it-your-way pizza, where ‘no topping is taboo’, you pick the base, you pick the sauce, you pick the cheese, and as many toppings as your heart desires. Better still, they all cost the same, no matter how much or what you add (just £13.50). If that wasn’t enough, it’s 2 for 1 every Wednesday, too!

So, if you want a BBQ sauce pizza topped with Stilton, goat’s cheese, tuna, black olives and truffle oil, go for it! No ones going to top you here (although I can’t stop people from side-eyeing you). And don’t worry, there are all the ingredients to make a ‘normal’ pizza too, like pepperoni or a Hawaiian.

So what’s new with Deathrow Pizza?

This spring, Deathrow Pizza is expanding into South Birmingham. It’s launching in Attic Brew Co.’s award-winning taproom with a brand new, custom-built kitchen and serving up pizzas six nights a week, with daytime service on Saturdays and Sundays—and no one will still tell you how you have to have it.

“We’re buzzing to bring our pizzas to Stirchley,” said the team behind Deathrow Pizza. “Attic Brew taproom is the perfect match – top beer, top people, and the same independent spirit.” In the meantime, you can learn more about Deathrow Pizza here.
